What is Walk a Mile?

This event is an official walk of Walk a Mile in Her Shoes: The International Men's March to Stop Rape, Sexual Assault and Gender Violence. Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® events are a playful opportunity for men (and women) to raise awareness in their community about the serious causes, effects, and remediations to men's sexualized violence against women. The goal of the event is to bring awareness to the issues of gender violence, child abuse, and sexual assault while promoting positive and healthy gender relations.

What is the money for?

Proceeds from the event benefit Emmaus House Domestic Violence Shelter and Community Solutions. Funds raised will provide services to promote the safety and healing of survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, and child abuse, as well as promote vital education to help end gender violence in our community.

Is fundraising required?

Fundraising is not required, but this event exists to provide support to survivors of sexual assault and to create awareness in the community about the impact of gender violence on individuals and the community. Whether and how much you fundraise is up to you, though we do encourage participants to set a $100 fundraising goal. Once you register, you will get your own customizable pledge page, which you can easily share with family and friends through social media and other outlets. We think you will be surprised how many people are happy to support you in your effort to make a difference in your community!

What is the Red Shoe Challenge:
In an effort to help raise awareness for Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® and to ensure your community knows what you are walking for, we are asking you to challenge your neighbors, co-workers, and others to walk with you this year or to show their commitment to ending sexual assault by sponsoring your walk. When you c
hallenge one another, our community will be awarded with increased awareness around sexual assault and more funds to support services for survivors. And you could be awarded too...

What Prizes will be Awarded:
  • Trophy for the Largest Team
  • Trophy for the most money raised by an individual
  • Trophy for the most money raised by a team

Heels are provided for all male registrants. Sorry ladies, you'll have to bring your own.

Do you need volunteers?
Yes, we do! Our fabulous volunteers help make this a great event for our participants and the community.
